Hello! Very nice to meet you. I'm Emily - welcome to my portfolio website! Here I will highlight my writing, designwork, and fibre arts. I am a hardworking woman who loves colorful, kitschy design, poetry and prose, TTRPGs, and my cat Hollis. I have extensive experience working in the fashion, nature conservation, and nonprofit spaces. Let's make something fun!

Artist's Statement

What Do I Create?

I create fun, kitschy mixed media pieces that combine eldritch horror, colorful fashions, geometric shapes, and my hopefulness on the world.

Why Do I Make It?

Art is the best way I have to articulate my thoughts and communicate my point of view to others. It is the way to synthesize my being into digestable pieces.

What Media, Materials, or Techniques Do I Use?

I mainly use fabric and sewing techniques, with media such as yarn, fabric, clay, magazines for collage, paints, beads, and other traditional art supplies. I also utilize digital programs like Procreate for repeat pattern work, tessalation, and textile print designs.

What Is Most Important In My Work?

Creating art that is fun and expressive while evoking emotion is my priority. Heavy subjects can still be expressed in an approachable, colorful way and that's what I like to showcase.

What Inspires Me?

Humanity inspires me. From fashion, idioms, legends and lore, the natural world, and geometric repeating patterns, my inspiration comes from all corners of the world.
